Dear Community:
We’ve had some beautiful weather for the first week of November. Just a reminder that there is no school on Monday, November 11, 2024. We were lucky enough to have the Snapdragons from Charlemont Academy perform a couple of songs for us. They were awesome and our students were captivated!
Yeti The Chicken Escapes! Written by Perry Spring in 4th grade:
Recently at this school, we built a chicken coop just outside the school, with 5 chickens in it. Unfortunately, on October 26 2024, people were going in and out of the chicken coop and someone left the door unlatched. Yeti, our only rooster escaped.The person who had let him out didn’t tell anyone! When our teacher, Mrs. Orzechowski noticed, it was too late. Our class decided to try to find him. We checked the security camera and we found out which way he went. We went in that direction for a couple hundred feet, and then found two clusters of feathers on the ground, followed by fox scat, so we knew that Yeti had gotten eaten by a fox. We wanted to have baby chicks, so a few days afterward we got two new roosters, a father and a son. We named the son Hot Chocolate because his color was a deep dark brown. We named the father Tater Tot because his color was the color of a tater tot and his wings were a reddish brown color and looked kind of like ketchup. We added a second latch on the door so this kind of disaster wouldn’t happen again. Tater Tot and Hot chocolate are happy in their new home and the hens are happy that there are more roosters!

For families who expressed interest in Dental Services at School HCHC is working with their team to see if they would be able to accommodate coming out to us to provide oral health needs at school given the number of interested participants was relatively low. We will update you here as we receive any updates. Thank you!
