The Worthington Fire and Rescue Department (WFRD) recently concluded two community safety initiatives – a lockbox program and address marker installations for senior citizens.
Both initiatives are to aid identification of homes in an emergency and to gain entry to homes for single or immobilized patients.
Funding was provided by the Senior Safety Awareness and Fire Education (SAFE) grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Fire Services (DFS). WFRD then expanded the offer of address markers to any town resident.
In total, the department installed 65 address markers and distributed 15 lockboxes.
