Driveway Clearing
It’s that time of year and among life’s challenges is keeping our driveways and walkways clear and safe. The town would like to remind everyone that as we plow or push snow to clear our driveways, it is not ok to plow or push snow from your driveway across or into the road. Here’s the Town Bylaw:
SECTION X WINTER PLOWING
No person, other than an employee or agent of the Town of Worthington acting in furtherance of his or her duties as temporary expediency may require, shall pile, push, plow or blow snow or ice onto or across a Town public way or sidewalk so as to impede the flow of traffic on such way or sidewalk or pile, push, plow or blow snow or ice so as to cause snow or ice to fall upon persons or vehicles traveling on such ways. Any person found in violation of this By-Law would be warned and thereafter would be subject to a fifty dollar fine for each violation.
Unfortunately the Highway Department has increasingly run into problems with this, particularly in cases where snow is literally plowed or blown into the road and left there for the Road Crew to deal with. It’s a serious safety problem! Please keep this in mind as you clear the end of your driveway for everyone’s safety and consideration.

Road Sand for Residential Use
Outside the Highway Department, in front of the Salt Barn, is a sand pile for residential use. We need to ask you to please limit yourself to 2 buckets of sand per storm. We’re seeing instances of folks filling up their pickup bed with sand and unfortunately that really isn’t sustainable for the town. Also, the Highway Department is typically not working over the weekend, and is unable to replenish the sand pile, so we are sometimes running out on the weekends.
