Dear Community:

It was so nice to see so many families at Tuesday’s Thanksgiving lunch.  A huge thanks to Ms. Ashley and Ms. Jaimie for preparing such a yummy lunch!  Happy Thanksgiving!

Update from Mrs. Madden:

  • Session Two Registration:  Session two of the after-school program starts December 4th. Registration forms have been handed out to students in their classroom. If enrolling your student please return the registration form by December 1st. If you are in need of a form e-mail smadden@hr-k12.org. Session one ends November 29th (Wednesday).
  • Girls on the Run:  On Sunday, November 19th, our Girls on the Run students participated in the Western MA Girls on the Run 5K at Western New England University in Springfield. It was a fun, beautiful, sunny day. The girls ran/walked with hundreds of other girls and coaches from all over Western MA. Thank you to the girls’ running buddies and families for supporting us. Coach Shannon, Emily, Lexi and Lisa are very proud of the girls for their hard work this session. We will be completing our community impact projects up until November 29th.
  • Program closed dates:  The program will be closed on November 30th (Thursday) and December 1st (Friday) due to staff attending a DESE workshop in Eastern MA. If your student is enrolled on those days please e-mail Shannon your student’s dismissal plan.
Girls on the Run Practice Day 2023

From the Worthington Parks and Recreation Committee:  Come to the Town Pond on Saturday December 3, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. for the holiday tree lighting!  Santa will arrive around 4:45 p.m and the lighting will take place once it is dark around 5:00 p.m.  Please come to warm up by the fire pit and enjoy some light refreshments.

From the LibraryThe library is hosting a book swap on 12/7 during library hours.  They are looking for gently used books for the swap, please drop off by December 4.  Also, we have several books that have not been returned,  please send in any library books that you may still have at home.

PTO New Fundraiser:  We are also looking for parents to help with the holiday bazaar on 12/13. We would need volunteers to help organize the donations, wrap the presents and help the children shop. We could also use some parents to assist with setting up and taking down the bazaar as well.  Please email the PTO at worthingtonpto.ma@gmail.com

PTO meetings will typically be on the third Thursday of each month with the next one scheduled on December 21.  This will be a hybrid meeting.  Coffee and homemade cookies will be served if you attend the meeting in person!  Hope to see you there!

Update from the Nurse’s Office:

During this season of thanks, please enjoy your families and stay safe and healthy!

Please send your children to school with warm outerwear! We are seeking donations of outgrown gloves/mittens, hats, coats, and especially all sizes of snow pants. We can also use larger (sizes 1 and up) sneakers,  snow and rubber boots, and pants! Thank you!

News from the cafeteria:  We are able to provide treats for special celebrations in the classrooms.  Please check out the link here for more information and the order form.

The cafeteria now has a peanut free table at lunch time due to the presence of a student in the school with a severe peanut allergy.
