Due to concerns associated with the Covid-19 Panadmeic, the Select Board, in consultation with the Town Moderator, Town Clerk and Finance Committee, voted Tuesday night to delay town Meeting, originally scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2020. We did not set a new date yet and plan to revisit this at our Tuesday, April 28 meeting.
Town Elections, normally held the same day, will also be delayed: Pursuant to Section 1 of Chapter 45 of the Acts of 2020 and because of the state of emergency declared by the governor pursuant to executive order 591, Declaration of a State of Emergency to Respond to COVID-19, the municipal town election scheduled for May 2, 2020, hereby postponed.
We have also decided it would be prudent to close the playground at the R. H. Conwell School for now. While we were aware that it was getting light use, unfortunately we’ve been seeing gatherings there, contrary to the guidance from health authorities and the directives from the Governor.
We can’t emphasize strongly enough how important the guidelines for social distancing are. This virus will be coming here to Worthington and all available evidence suggests that the most important thing we can do to slow it’s spread is to limit our exposure to each other. Ordinarily this is NOT what Worthington is about. But for now please do your best and let’s all stay safe.
