Sunday News from Superintendent/Principal Dobosz, March 22, 2020

Dear Community:

I hope this note finds you healthy during these unprecedented times.  Please prioritize the health and well-being of your family and as a reminder it is critical for the sacrifices everyone is making that we practice social distancing.  This week I realized how important self-care and establishing a regular routine was for me and my own mental health.  I am taking advantage of longer walks in my fields and time by the stream listening to the spring peepers!

Earlier last week, I was able to hop on Mr. Cleland’s Zoom meeting with the 5/6th graders.  It was wonderful to see the kiddos and hear about their home adventures.  The connection with one another is so important for us while we all practice social distancing.  My own kids who are teenagers were originally not impressed with their lack of freedom, and now we are all finding some fun ways to spend this unexpected time together!  Today we spent the majority of the day outside in the fields clearing dead trees and getting the fields ready for spring.  Our burn pile is the largest its ever been!  Also, our animals are really enjoying the extra time with their humans!

While we practice social distancing with our families, I have been thinking about those who are along and how they must be feeling.  I spoke with the Administrator at the Maples, and we would like to invite all Conwell students to draw or write a letter to the senior citizens who live there.  My only request from you all is that before you sit down to these thoughtful letters or draw beautiful pictures is that you wash your hands!  Families can send letters to the office:

At this time our tentative date to reopen is Tuesday, April 7, 2020, the date has been set by the Governor of Massachusetts.  I will continue to share any new information with you and if this date changes you will be notified as soon as I know.

Be well.
