Our New Vacuum Tanker

Our long awaited new Vacuum Tanker has arrived at the Worthington Fire Station!

Out with the Old and in with the New!

You may recall that we voted at a Special Town meeting to appropriate $80,000 towards the purchase in the hopes of receiving a Fiscal Year 2016 Assistance to Firefighters Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) of the Department of Homeland Security.

Fire Chief Kyle Challet accepting the grant award from Congressman Richard Neal on June 30, 2016

Fortunately we were successful in our grant request and were awarded $262,781 toward the total cost of $342, 930 for the tanker. Special thanks to Michael Dondiego for doing a great job on the grant writing.

The new tanker will allow the firefighers to load water much more quickly and in greater amounts to then transport to a fire scene.
