Dear R.H. Conwell Families,
Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year!
I hope your summer has been filled with laughter, adventure, time outdoors, and moments to simply enjoy being together. As August draws to a close, our faculty is eagerly preparing to welcome our students back to the classrooms, woods, playground, and learning spaces that make R.H. Conwell such a special place.
As we begin a new school year, we will continue to focus on what it means to be a Conwell Kid through our KORR values: Kind, Optimistic, Respectful, and Responsible. These four values guide how we treat one another, approach challenges, care for our school and community, and make choices each day. We want our students to know that being a successful Conwell student is about more than academics—it is about being a good friend, a thoughtful classmate, a positive problem-solver, and a responsible member of our community.
This year, we will continue to build upon the traditions that make our school unique. From our multi-age classrooms and outdoor learning experiences to Responsive Classroom practices and our all-school meetings, we remain committed to fostering curiosity, kindness, collaboration, and a love of learning.
I’d like to extend a very warm Conwell welcome to the newest members of our team!

One of the things that makes Conwell truly special is the partnership we share with our families. We know that when schools and families work together, children thrive. We encourage you to stay connected, communicate with your child’s teacher, volunteer when you’re able, and join us for the many events and celebrations throughout the year. Please make sure to read my Friday Newsletter (sent electronically) for all upcoming events!
Before the first day of school, teachers will be reaching out to schedule Parent-Teacher Intake Meetings to be held on the scheduled half days – August 27 and 28th. These conversations are an important part of beginning the year. They give us the opportunity to learn about your child—their strengths, interests, hopes, and any supports they may need—so we can provide the best possible learning experience from day one.
We also hope you’ll join us for the PTO sponsored Ice Cream Social on Tuesday, August 25 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to reconnect with friends and celebrate the beginning of another exciting year together. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back with a scoop of ice cream and plenty of smiles!
