Route 143 – Phase 2
Morais, the construction company, is taking this week off, as is the Blasting Subcontractor. The first section of blasting and stone removal is progressing slowly and they will resume drilling, blasting and clearing next week. So please expect similar delays of up to a couple hours if they’re blasting. The detour signs will be directing traffic down East Windsor Road to the middle of Peru.
The only work going on this week is a subcontractor removing concrete forms. They will resume work next week on the retaining wall that’s been started about halfway down the road and start work on another across the street from the first one they did, just beyond East Windsor Rd.
If you’re taking Lindsay Hill Rd to bypass the construction, PLEASE TAKE IT SLOW!
- It’s a safety issue, as residents like to walk that road.
- We also want to keep the dust down. As you kick up dust, that’s just sand and gravel ending up on the side of the road instead of on the road as well as in the residents yards. Your speed going up the hill also contributes to the washboarding.
Route 112
The crews are working this week and are concentrating on replacement of Guard Rails and finishing up the sidewalks in the center of town.
- Milling of the road surface is scheduled for August
- Paving is scheduled for September.
I’ll try to nail them down a little more specifically as we get closer to those dates.
If you have any questions or concerns, please address them to the Selectboard at sboard@worthington-ma.us. That will reach all 3 of us as well as Peggy O’Neal, our Executive Assistant. Or feel free to give me a call at 413-519-1731. And I’ll do my best to get answers if we don’t have them already.

Is there a chance that Morais can clean up the west bound lane, to re-establish a two lane road? That way we are not driving in the eastbound lane around a blind curve.
