Sevenars July 14, 2024 Concert

We are so excited to be gearing up for our 56th season opening
“Family and Friends”
Sunday July 14 at 4pm!

We are dedicating this concert to the memory of longtime Sevenars member David James, who had been scheduled to join us. Though this loss has hit hard, we will play with the spirit that has kept us going since 1968. 💜🎶💜

The music will be largely as it was scheduled, though we are deeply touched to announce that our guest artist pianist/composer Clifton J. (“Jerry”) Noble will play his new composition “Elegy for David” – a premiere. Lynelle James will play a work by New Zealand-born composer Frank Hutchens (born in Christchurch where David had been living), and Christopher James will add a solo Bach cello movement.

Lynelle was scheduled to perform with her father the Brahms Variations on a Theme by Haydn for two pianos, a festival favorite, but Rorianne Schrade will step in as her collaborator as well as playing some solo Rachmaninoff. Christopher James (pianist as well as cellist) will dazzle in music of Liszt and more.

For the second half, Jerry Noble will add his special flair to a 100th-anniversary tribute to Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with Rorianne, and the 150th anniversary of Gustav Holst will be honored with a selection from the Planets. There will be some only-at-Sevenars surprises as well.

We look forward to seeing you and sharing the life-affirming experience of music.

Live Concerts continue each Sunday at 4pm through August 18.
