Canada Geese Incident

 July 19, 2024

Dear Worthington residents,

As some of you are aware from a post on “Within Worthington”, on Sunday, June 9th at around 8:30 a.m., a number of Canada Geese – 4-5 adults and several goslings – were found dead on each side of Old Post Road next to Chuckle Brook Farm and the pond outlet, at the location where geese have crossed the road for many years. Unfortunately, the discovery was not reported either to our police or state wildlife authorities and the carcasses were apparently removed shortly thereafter. This is unfortunate as it makes any investigation as to cause – human(s) or animal(s) – much more difficult.

Cruelty to wildlife, if that is the case, is a serious crime in our state and should be handled as such. Accordingly, if anyone has first hand information regarding this incident, please contact our Police Chief, Bob Reinke at 413-238-0400.

Thanks in advance for your help.
