Dear Community:

Have a wonderful weekend!

Mass Cultural Council Arts Grant: I’m pleased to announce that we have been awarded $6,100 from the Massachusetts Cultural Arts Grant! We plan to invite John Porcino to work with students during the winter months. See the blurb below about our Artists in residence.

Much of John Porcino’s training for his 30 years as a storyteller and singer arose while creating and participating in the zany & touching moments around a campfire – all of life, seen through a flickering fire light, surrounded by the magnificent beauty of the natural world.

These days John spins some 200 performances, workshops, and in-service trainings each year for folks of all ages.

His performances are a mix of stories and songs that are sparked to life with warmth, humor, a playful touch of audience participation, and a twist of music from around the world.

His workshops are playful, clear, hands on journeys from which participants leave with real skills and enthusiasm for bringing the work into their life.

PTO: Please email the PTO at worthingtonpto.ma@gmail.com Next meeting is scheduled for December 21 at 6:00pm This will be a hybrid meeting.

Chocolate bars: We still have about 3 boxes left and are now selling them for 2 for $1.00 or .50 cents each. We are hoping to have them gone by Winter Break. We have two flavors left: Crisp and Wafer. Please contact the office if you would like to make a purchase.

Update from the Nurse’s Office:
* Order 4 Free Covid tests per household here! It is quick and simple!
* Please send your children to school with warm outerwear! We have seen many students in the health office seeking winter gear. As the temperatures continue to drop, and as we get more snow, it is critical students have warm coats, snow pants, boots, hats, and gloves/mittens to safely play outside. Thank you!
* Do you know a child who is in need of a bed? A Bed for Every Child will provide a new twin mattress and wooden bed frame to a child in Massachusetts in need of a bed.

Families can access the program through a referral made by advocates, such as healthcare workers, teachers, guidance counselors. The typical wait time to receive a bed is 30-45 days.

Please contact Nurse Steph at sfaas@hr-k12.org if you would like her to submit an application on behalf of a child in need.
