R. H. Conwell Community News 5/7/2021

Dear Community,

Happy Friday! What a rainy, windy and cold week. The R.H. Conwell faculty would like to thank everyone who helped celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week! Students shared beautiful cards, homemade gifts, and hand-picked flowers to show their appreciation for the teachers. I would like to thank the PTO for the delicious breakfast and cookies and also Rebecca Fritz, Rolling Clouds Soapery for the wonderful soaps and lip balm. We are so lucky to work in such a supportive community!

Annual Town Meeting: During the Annual Town Meeting, the school budget was passed. In addition to the school budget there was an article in the warrant to replace the cafeteria tables. I was asked to address why we needed new cafeteria tables and explained that they are approximately 50 years old and do not work properly and there is a risk of injury. A lot of research went into finding safe, well-made tables to replace the old ones. We will continue to look for funding to get new tables.

Faculty changes for next year: Chris Cleland, the fifth and sixth grade teacher will be leaving the district at the end of the year. We all wish him luck. A hiring committee consisting of faculty, one school committee member, and a parent has been formed to review qualified applicants and begin interviewing candidates in the coming weeks.

Graduation: The sixth graders will graduate in a ceremony held on June 11, 2021. We wish our five sixth grade graduates the best of luck as they move up to middle school!

School Committee Meeting: School Committee meets on May 13, 2021 @ 6:30 p.m..
