News for the Community from Superintendent/Principal Dobosz, Sunday, July 19, 2020

Dear Community:

Hope this message finds you well. Since last week I have been in Syracuse, NY with my sister because our mom was admitted to the hospital and later diagnosed with a terminal condition. We were hoping to move her to hospice care, but she passed away Thursday morning. Because of COVID the hospital policy was very restrictive and was only allowing us two hours visits with her, but on Wednesday we were able to spend 6 hours with her before we were asked to leave. We were so grateful for those additional hours with her. When I woke up Thursday morning for my walk there was the most beautiful sunrise. Shortly after the hospital called to say she had passed away. My mom loved sunrises and sunsets so I really believe this was a sign from her saying goodbye to us.

I have a few updates for you about the reopening plans.

• The District will share a DRAFT reopening plan by Friday, July 24th. The reopening task force met twice to address questions and share input about the three required reopening plans.
• A parent forum will be held via ZOOM on Tuesday, July 28th at 7:00 p.m. in order for families to ask questions related to the opening plan.
• If you DO NOT plan on returning in person this fall please email me. The reopening plan will also include an OPTION for Remote Learning for those not physically attending Conwell in the Fall.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out via email/phone if you need anything this week.

Warmly,
Gretchen Morse-Dobosz
