Dear Community:

This is my last Friday news for the 2021-2022 school year. I would like to thank all of you for your support this year. We could not have done it without the incredible partnership from our dedicated faculty, parents, and school committee! Thank you!

As we close for summer recess, the teachers will be taking a much needed break. I’ll be in the building throughout the summer, so please don’t hesitate to stop in and say hello if you are in town! Mid-August, I will be sending my Back-to-School summer letter home with important information about the upcoming school year.

Last Friday, we celebrated our 6th grade graduates! Congratulations to Amanda Clemeno, Ava Cleveland, Sidney Hawkes, Telyn Kelly, Charlotte Niswonger, Grace Sampson, and Malcolm Todd. All of our graduates will be attending Hampshire Regional Middle School in the fall! Good luck and we will miss your smiles!

PTO: We are looking for parents who are interested in leading our PTO for next year. We have so much to plan for this coming fall- including a gathering to kick off the school year. Please contact louellet@hr-k12.org if you are interested.

Kindergarten COA Buddies: This school year the kindergarten students have been writing letters to their COA pen pal, Georgie and last week the students and Georgie enjoyed her two favorite treats, ice cream and lemonade. While the students enjoyed the treats, Geogie told stories about growing up on an island and not having cars there.

½ Animal Presentations: The First and Second graders presented their animal projects in the quad last week. The students researched an animal of interest and wrote those facts on a trifold and then created a diorama habitat for their animal. Students and parents enjoyed listening to these projects!

P.E. Teacher: We are thrilled to welcome Mrs. Greta Facchetti to the district this fall. Greta is very excited to be teaching physical education in Worthington. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire and a master’s degree in education from Cambridge College. Mrs. Facchetti has been an educator for over 20 years and is passionate about instilling the importance of an active lifestyle in her students. Greta strives to get her

students moving and tries to include their personal interests when planning her classes. Presently she teaches physical education at Stamford Elementary School in Vermont and also teaches physical education and art at Emma L. Miller Elementary in Savoy. She currently lives in Savoy with her husband, Blair and their daughter, Vienna and son, Chaz. When not working, you can find her actively enjoying the outdoors, practicing yoga, traveling, working in her garden or spending time with her family and friends. During the Winter months you are sure to see her on the nordic ski trails at Notchview!

Enrichment: The Outdoor Adventure and Exploration Summer Program will run July 11th to August 4th, Monday through Thursday from 8:30 to 3:00. An email will be going out to enrolled families with additional camp information. At this time the summer program is full. If you are interested in your student attending camp and have not yet registered you may email Shannon Madden, at smadden@hr-k12.org, to put your child on a wait list.

A parent survey will be sent out to families over the summer to gather input for next year’s program. The survey will include questions about adding preschool to the after-school program, assessing the need for a fee based before school program, and parent involvement.

The after-school program staff would like to thank our after-school program families for an amazing, fun year with your children!

Nurse Sam’s End of Year Reminders: With the end of the year swiftly approaching, I wanted to send some friendly reminders regarding the end of the year, and preparing for next year.
★ If your child is entering Preschool, Kindergarten, or Fourth Grade, they must provide an updated physical examination form prior to the first day of school. It is recommended that all students, regardless of grade level, provide an updated physical examination form, however it is not required.
★ If your child will be needing medication at school in the Fall, please be on the lookout for the medication packets to come home in August from the new nurse. The forms are also available on the nurse’s office tab on the school website if you would like to get ahead of it prior to August.
★ This will be our last Covid update for the year. In total, we have had 25 positive cases of Covid-19 within our school community this school year. I am extremely happy with our response to this pandemic, and how well we have done keeping our kids healthy and in school. I only hope that things will continue to trend towards normalcy for everyone! Thank you all for your support while we navigated the unknowns together.
★ Finally, my last day at Conwell was today, June 17th. If you have any questions, concerns, or correspondence after 3:30 on June 17th, please direct them to Miss Lisa at louellet@hr-k12.org or Mrs. Dobosz at gmorsedobosz@hr-k12.org. It has been a pleasure working with you all, and caring for your children.

I will miss you all tremendously. I hope you all have amazing summers with your families.
Stay safe and healthy!
With love, Nurse Sam ♡

Have a wonderful summer recess! We look forward to seeing you back to school on August 31, 2022 with a NOON dismissal!

Warmly,

Gretchen Morse-Dobosz
