Fall: where the trees teach us how to let go, and school teaches us how to grow.
Dear Community:
The first month of school went by so fast! Our students have settled into their routines nicely and I’ve enjoyed spending time in the classrooms and seeing the students so engaged in their learning! Open House is this month! We hope to see you all here on October 17th beginning at 5:30. Make sure to check out the UPCOMING events down below!
On Wednesday we celebrated National Custodian Day! Students made Mr. Wolf thank you cards! We appreciate all he does for our students at R.H. Conwell.
Hello from Ms. Todd:
STEAM is rolling this fall beginning with our student-led Recycling Project:
Students have identified two goals: to educate the school community on how to sort and recycle in the cafeteria and classrooms, and to re-design the cafeteria clearing up system.
Take the quiz! How does your household measure up for recycling?
And from the avian world:

Help us better understand the world of birds. Watch birds on 12 Oct: It’s that simple. You don’t need to be a bird expert or go out all day long, even 10 minutes of birding from home counts.
- October Big Day runs from midnight to midnight in your local time zone. You can report what you find from anywhere in the world.
- You can enter your observations via our website or download the free eBird Mobile app to make submitting lists even easier, no later than 15 Oct
- Watch the results roll in: During the day, follow along with bird reports from more than 180 countries in real-time on our October Big Day Page.
Attendance Update: Did you know…
★ We had 21 students with perfect attendance from 8/28 through 9/30! These students were honored during morning meetings this week, and were presented with a certificate for their commitment to being in school.
★ We will continue to recognize students with perfect attendance on a monthly basis.
★ We noted a drop in attendance on our most recent half day (9/25). If families have feedback on why they may keep their student(s) home on a half day (aside from an illness or injury), we would love to hear from you. Your experience may provide some insight into support that the school could provide to facilitate getting students here for half days. Valuable opportunities for growth and learning are happening every day, even the short ones. Thank you!
News from the Garden: The Third and Fourth grade class grew celery this summer and enjoyed ants on a log the other day for their snack.
From The School Nurses: We would like to revisit the opportunity to partner with Hilltown Community Health Center to provide dental services to students at school. We sent out a form last school year, but the idea did not garner much interest. We are resending a survey here to gauge if this is a service our families would like us to pursue for their student(s). Please complete this survey by Friday October 11 if you would be interested in taking advantage of this opportunity. If you completed the survey last year, you do not have to do it again. We have already noted your interest.
Just think, your child could still earn that perfect attendance award if they are having their teeth cleaned at school, lose less time on learning without having to be transported to and from an appointment, and caregivers don’t have to take time off from work or other responsibilities.
Thanks for considering.
There will be another Flu & COVID vaccine clinic next week at town hall if any families were not able to make it to the one at RH Conwell. Please click on the link below and it will bring you to a pdf with a QR code to scan for registration.
