4th Quarter – FY ’25
(April – June 2025)
The Highway Department completed the following work during the spring quarter:
- Early April – Responded to a few light snowstorms.
- Throughout April –
- Chipped brush along multiple roads from wind and winter damage.
- Cleaned ditches, waterways, culverts, and catch basins.
- April 14 – Crew attended Dirt Road Training sponsored by Baystate Roads.
- Mid–Late April –
- Replaced the drive shaft for the sander on the 2018 Freightliner.
- Performed general equipment maintenance.
- Washed, cleaned, and rust-proofed all trucks.
- April 28 – Began pothole patching.
- May 1 – Completed sweeping of paved roads.
- May 15 – Began grading dirt roads.
- May 23 –
- Barricaded Almon Johnson Road.
- Began string-trimming guardrails.
- Started mowing roadside areas.
The department will continue its regular maintenance and improvement work throughout the summer to ensure safe and reliable travel for all residents.
1st Quarter FY ’26
(June – September 2025)
The Highway Department completed the following work this quarter:
- Continued roadside mowing and string trimming along guardrails.
- August 5 – Finished grading all dirt roads.
- Performed shoulder work on Buffington Hill Road, Cold Street, and East Windsor Road to improve drainage.
- September 8 – Welcomed new crew member, Travis Drosehn.
- Replaced and installed multiple street and traffic signs.
- September 10 – Traded the 2019 F350 for a new 2025 F600 with hook and lift system and multiple bodies, including chipper, dump, sander, and plow.
- Worked on the 2018 Freightliner to repair wiring issues and installed four new tires.
- Began improvements on South Worthington Road, including:
- Chipping brush.
- Establishing a new turnaround.
- Ditch work for better drainage.
- Adding new gravel to rebuild the road.
