Little Free Library

Meet and Greet
“Knox the Box”

A few months ago Eileen Daneri
from the Worthington Library
spoke to the students about an idea
for a kids’ book box in front of our school.

The next step in building our book box was reading about book boxes online. We also looked at many examples from around the world. Next, we imagined and created our own blueprints by making hand drawings then digital models using Google drawing tools. After that, we combined the best ideas from the blueprints with actual book measurements and student heights to create one final blueprint. We then had to make a supply list for wood, screws, paint, shingles, plexiglass, hinges, and a few other things. Mr. Wolf cut most of the wood from his sawmill and the rest we purchased. We spent a couple months measuring, cutting, drilling, sanding, painting, nailing, and digging. Last, we named our project “Knox the Box”, registered it on the Little Free Library website, and filled it with donated books!

Thank you to Worthington Library, Sena Farm Brewery, Corners Store, Liston’s, Hilltown Mobile Market, Goldenrod Inn and to all those who donated to make Knox the Box a reality!

You can find it online if you go to this website and search for “Knox the Box”

How wonderful to see and hear the students explain and demonstrate this project start to finish. This is quite an accomplishment.
