Dear Community:

We were all so excited to welcome everyone back!  The typical first day jitters, excitement and enthusiasm was radiated from the students and teachers these last three days.  It’s been wonderful to see the returning students, and meet the new families joining our community.  This year, we are thrilled to welcome 8 new families to the district for a total of 75 students enrolled in the Pre-K  – 6th grade.

Yesterday morning certainly felt more like fall is right around the corner.  As we move into “cooler” like weather, please make sure to send your child to school in layers!  The mornings are crisp and the afternoons warm.  Additionally, please make sure to send your child to school with a raincoat and a change of clothes.  Feel free to send in a pair of boots or change of shoes for when they go into the woods.  This will help when we experience weather other than the sun!  Thank you in advance!

Fire Drill:  This morning at approximately 10:00 a.m. we practiced our first Fire Drill.  Fire Chief Rick Scott was pleased with the students and faculty response to the drill!  Nice work everyone!

Parent/Teacher Emails:  Please note that teachers ARE NOT expected to return emails during the weekends.  Teachers will check their school emails on Friday afternoon before they leave for the weekend, and then again Monday morning before school begins.  Teachers have a 24 hour expectation to return an email during the work week (Monday-Friday).  If there is an emergency or an immediate need to speak to a school member during the weekend or holiday vacation, please call my cell phone at 413-695-7893.  Thank you.

Coffee with the Principal:  Throughout the year I look forward to meeting the new members of our community and connecting with returning community members. We have scheduled morning and evening times that will be in-person and virtual.  These gatherings are a great opportunity to meet new people and see old friends.  Our first Annual Coffee will be in-person on September 22 at 8:30 A.M. beginning in the library and then parents will be invited to visit classrooms beginning at 8:55 a.m.  to observe classroom Morning Meetings.

Curriculum Night:  We also welcome parents and guardians to Curriculum Night on September 14 from 5:30 P.M. – 6:30 P.M.  This is an opportunity for you to hear from the classroom teacher in order to learn more about the classroom expectations, routines, and learning that will happen this year in your child(s) class!  This event is not intended for children to attend.

Open House:  Will be on October 6, 2022 with a PTO sponsored dinner event beginning at 5:00 P.M.  More information will be forthcoming.

Breakfast and Lunch:  The school breakfast and lunch program is free this school year!  If you would like to purchase milk with your bagged lunch it will cost .50 cents.   Parents may send cash or checks in an envelope.  Checks are made out to The Town of Worthington.

Volunteers:  We are looking for community members to substitute and/or volunteer at R.H. Conwell.  Please see the volunteer form found here and kindly fill out and return to the office. If you have questions,  please call me at 413-238-5856.

School Information:  We communicate to families predominantly by email and school folders.  The email addresses that we use come from the registration form.  If there is a grandparent, aunt/uncle or other guardian that would like this information please share their email with the office at louellet@hr-k12.org.  We will do our best to include them.  Thank you very much.
