Cow Power!

A couple of years ago the Worthington Selectboard signed an agreement to purchase power from a methane generation facility in Granville to be powered by maneur from dairy cows and food waste.

Similar to Solar generated power, the electricity purchased through this project show up as credits on the town’s electric bill at a 15% discount.

The facility went online this past summer. Peggy O’Neal and I attended a Grand Opening on September 25, 2019 and met our new power generators who also produce milk for the Agrimark Dairy Farm Cooperative.
