R. H. Conwell News for 6/4/2021

The official countdown has begun to the last day of school! Teachers and students are busy wrapping up end of the year projects and celebrating an unprecedented school year. There is so much to reflect upon as we close out the school year. For me, I want to celebrate the partnership we have with the parents and community members of Worthington.

Relationships are a key component of education and this year in particular we worked hard to foster those relationships between students and parents. Without your support this year would not have been possible. Thank you!

Calling all library books: Please make sure to send in all library books no later than June 14.

Candidate hired for the grade position: I am pleased to announce that the hiring committee has offered the ⅚ teaching position to Andrew (Alec) Maclachlan. Alec has over a decade of experience teaching in the Hilltowns. His varied experiences, expertise with Expeditionary Learning and Responsive Classroom, and his love for the outdoors are all assets the committee felt matched the district’s vision for teaching and learning. Please follow the link below to read his short bio.

Introducing Alec Maclachlan

PE News: On June 14 we will be having a Water Fun Day where students will have the opportunity to engage in water balloon, water sprayer and splashing activities. We will not be soaking each other, just splashing and spritzing. It would be a good idea to have students come with an extra full set of clothes and a towel in case. Please, no bathing suits, just a change of clothing. They will have time between PE and returning to their classroom to change. Hopefully the weather will cooperate! Thanks very much! ~Ms. Gage

June 15 – Ice-Cream Social: The PTO is hosting an ice-cream social to celebrate the end of the school year. The faculty and I would like to thank the PTO for their unwavering support this school year! From the special goody bags for the students and the book fair to all the effort to make the front of the school look beautiful with flowers and flags and for all the help with the gardens and the preschool/kindergarten sandbox and to supporting the staff with treats, coffee and breakfast as well as so many other things. We are so fortunate to have Jaime Ricci as our PTO leader.

Last day of school: June 16, 2021 – Noon dismissal
