Dear Community:

As we approach Thanksgiving break, I want to extend my best wishes to each of you for a safe and enjoyable holiday. This time of year is a wonderful opportunity to rest, reflect, and spend quality time with loved ones. I encourage you to take this time to recharge and return with renewed energy and focus!

Fall Data Presentation: During last Thursday’s School Committee meeting, Betsy Todd, our Interventionists, shared the results of the students’ fall assessment data. Please see the link below to view the presentation. As always, please reach out to your classroom teacher if you have further questions about your child’s data.

After-School Program Updates Session Two:

Session one of the program has been extended. It will end November 29th. Session Two will begin December 4th. Registration forms for session two will be handed out to students and available in Community News the week of November 27th.

Summer Program:

Mark your calendars! The summer program dates will be July 8th to August 1st. More information will be available in January. (Students are required to attend 80% of the program time to get the full benefit of the program. This is also a grant requirement.)

Closed days:

November 22nd (Wednesday) This is a half day of school.

November 30th (Thursday) and December 1st (Friday), Program staff will be attending a DESE training in Eastern MA.

December 1st, After-School Program session one ends December 4th, After-School Program session two begins

From the Worthington Parks and Recreation Committee: Come to the Town Pond on Saturday December 3, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. for the holiday tree lighting! Santa will arrive around 4:45 p.m and the lighting will take place once it is dark around 5:00 p.m. Please come to warm up by the fire pit and enjoy some light refreshments.

From the Library: The library is hosting a book swap on 12/7 during library hours. They are looking for gently used books for the swap, please drop off by December 4. Also, we have several books that have not been returned, please send in any library books that you may still have at home.

PTO New Fundraiser: On 11/22 at 11:15 – 11:50 we will be hosting an ice cream social. If any parents would like to help serve or clean up we would greatly appreciate it!

 We are also looking for parents to help with the holiday bazaar on 12/13. We would need volunteers to help organize the donations, wrap the presents and help the children shop. We could also use some parents to assist with setting up and taking down the bazaar as well. Please email the PTO at worthingtonpto.ma@gmail.com

PTO meetings will typically be on the third Thursday of each month with the next one scheduled on December 21. This will be a hybrid meeting. Coffee and homemade cookies will be served if you attend the meeting in person! Hope to see you there!

Update from the Nurse’s Office:

Please send your children to school with warm outerwear! We are seeking donations
of outgrown small gloves/mittens, hats, coats, and especially all sizes of snowpants.

We invite families to join us for breakfast and lunch each month. For November family lunch will be 11/21/23. Please be sure to sign up in advance so I can prepare enough. Also this month’s family lunch will be our Thanksgiving feast! Sign up sheets have been sent home. Money can be sent in with the sign up sheet or sign up and bring the money the day of. Any questions or concerns please email me atompkins@hr-k12.org.

We are also able to provide treats for special celebrations in the classrooms. Please check out the link here for more information and the order form.

The cafeteria now has a peanut free table at lunch time due to the presence of a student in the school with a severe peanut allergy.

2024 MCAS DATES: Below are the scheduled testing dates for students in grades 3-6. Please make sure to put these dates in your home schedules to avoid other scheduling conflicts.

  • ELA: April 2 and 3
  • Math: April 30 and May 1
  • Science: May 14 (grade 5 only)
