Good Afternoon Community:

First, I would like to wish all the mothers in our community a happy and healthy Mother’s Day!  This morning I cooked a delicious brunch with both kids and my in-laws who live in an in-law apartment in our house.  The house was filled with an array of delicious aromas and a lot of laughter!  It’s these moments that I pause and feel so grateful and appreciative for my family.

On Friday, I participated in a legislative roundtable discussion with several stakeholders about Remote Learning.  Participants included Hampshire, Franklin, Hampden, Berkshire, and Worcester Country Legislatures and Superintendents.  We shared stories from our respected districts about the challenges we are facing while educating our students during COVID-19.  The connectivity barriers, lack of capacity, social and emotional concerns, and future budgetary impacts were topics identified and shared during the hour-long session.  The purpose was to bring attention and awareness to the State House about the impact of COVID-19 and what we are facing here in Western Massachusetts.  Senator Hinds and Representative Blais were in attendance, and I continue to be impressed with their leadership, care and concern for our community.

Have a wonderful day!
