Covid Update – 10/28/2021

From the Worthington Board of Health – October 28, 2021

After a long period without any known COVID-19 cases, the Worthington Board of Health regrets having to report that there have been FOUR CASES reported since October 16: two in vaccinated people, two in non-vaccinated people. Two were present at an indoor event where many went unmasked. While there are news reports of major declines in infection rates nation-wide; cases in Massachusetts remain steady at over 1000 per day. As cold weather finally approaches, indoor activities are increasing.

At this time of year, when many are suffering the effects of allergies, it is easy to dismiss symptoms and a mild case will often go undetected. That means you or others could be spreading the infection to those who are unvaccinated or otherwise at risk because of age or co-morbidities. People who have been vaccinated, while not immune from getting the disease, typically have much milder experiences.

The messages remain the same: GET VACCINATED, WEAR MASKS WHEN IN PUBLIC PLACES AND PROXIMITY TO OTHERS AND ESPECIALLY WHEN INDOORS; MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING.

Thank you.
