News for the Community from Superintendent/Principal Dobosz, Sunday, July 5, 2020

Dear Community,

Happy Fourth!  Hope you enjoyed the beautiful weekend weather!  We certainly took advantage of the sunshine to get some more projects completed around the house.  It’s a bonus when the teenagers are home and can help!

As we get into the summer groove and spend less time in front of our computers, I want the community to know that the R.H. Conwell faculty will be working hard to develop the reopening plans for the fall.  We also have several parents who have volunteered to be a part of the task force.  Prior to the district releasing the reopening plan, please don’t hesitate to contact me with concerns or questions.  Please email me or call my cell phone (413-695-7893).  I also encourage everyone to read the guidance from DESE that all public and private schools in Massachusetts will have to follow this fall.  The medical guidance will be mandated for all schools.  The full initial document can be found at: http://www.doe.mass.edu/covid19/

Below I have included some school information that may be of interest to you.

  • The Reopening Task force plans to meet this week to give input on three possible learning models for this fall: 1) in-person learning with new safety requirements, 2) a hybrid of in-person and remote learning, and 3) the continuation of remote learning. Our task force will work with the state guidelines and develop comprehensive reopening plans (all three models) to report to DESE in August.
  • The survey results for Reopening in the Fall were incredibly helpful for me to hear how people are feeling with the released initial guidance.  Thank you!  Part of the districts planning will be to develop and include a remote option for families that do not want to physically return this school year.  If you are certain that you will not be physically returning in the fall, please send me an email as soon as possible.
  • Shannon Madden, our Enrichment Coordinator is happy to announce that she will be planning for a July 27th– August 14th Summer Enrichment camp!  Details will be forthcoming very soon!
  • Please see the resignation letter to the community from Ms. Ahrensdorf, Kindergarten Teacher.  In the coming weeks, I will share the districts next steps with this position.

Dear Conwell Students and Families,

It is with many mixed emotions that I write to you all to share that I will not be returning to Conwell this fall, as I’ve accepted a new position much closer to my home. I am so grateful to have been part of this tight-knit R.H. Conwell/Worthington community for these last five years, and I’ve always known that I’m incredibly lucky to have had this job as my first teaching position. I’m sad to leave, and have loved getting to know all of you, and want to thank you for all of your trust, patience, and support over the years! I truly hope to remain in close touch, so please feel free to reach out any time at grace.ahrensdorf@gmail.com. I wish Conwell and the whole community all the best in the years to come, and will miss you all greatly, but I will definitely be back to visit! 🙂

As always, thank you for your partnership and support!

Warmly,

Gretchen Morse-Dobosz
